Lela is becoming the cutest Velociraptor ever.

The title will make sense for the P.S.
After feeding the children a deliciously healthy dinner, I decided to be brave and try something new.
Lela’s dinner was an apple, which she ate down to the seeds. She loved it, but didn’t like having the seeds in her mouth. There was one in particular that she couldn’t get out from under her lip. After helping her, I was inspired to brush her teeth. And floss them. It wasn’t as bad as you would think getting a two year old to floss. She rather seemed to enjoy it.

As I was changing Korben’s diaper in preparation for bedtime, Lela didn’t hang around. She was sad that she had to go to bed and stormed off (once she was in a diaper, thankfully). I finished with him, sneaking his bottle downstairs with us. I went into their room, which is where she normally pouts about bedtime. In bed. However she wasn’t in there. I opened our bedroom door to find Lela on OUR bed. (For contextual purposes, our room is currently hiding the toys that are not going to survive the move). What was in her hands? She was quietly drawing in a book (the right book thankfully). With the accompanying markers. I told her to leave the room, which she did. I later apologized.

P.S.
Sorry – as I was writing that last paragraph, I heard a door close: rather unusual since I consider myself to be the only one at home to be able to open a door. When I go down, and peek into the room, I see that she was rather quick. Her contraband was neatly arranged between her knees: a Lela toothbrush, a hair brush, eye shadow, and mascara. I don’t know what to say other than: “Go to sleep”.

P.P.S.
Another cute Lela story from today: She is becoming much better at being potty trained, as long as you remind her frequently enough that she needs to go. While in the bathroom, I asked if there was more that she needed to do. She answered “No… Little… bit.” Then she showed me what “little bit meant” by putting her thumb and index finger about an inch apart. She looked at it, “Little bit”. She looked at her fingers as she closed them together announcing “Glasses!” She soon followed do looking intently at her fingers as she repeated the process. As she finished her declared the name of her new invention “Little bit… Glasses!”

P.P.P.S.
A cute Korben story from the day deserves to be told also. At some point today I was being distracted by Lela (imagine that), and Korben crawled away from us. He ended up crawling over to my computer, laying it flat, opening it up, and typing on the keys.

Adventure Time

We have embarked on a new adventure in our house. We have decided to put our two children in the same room to sleep at night. Crazy? Very.

It’s always been quite annoying that neither of our children can sleep when someone else is present in the room. Example: First night at the cabin with all my family. We put Lela to bed, she fell asleep fine but during the night she heard our shifting as we slept and at first cried cause she was tired and a little scared, but after a bit decided that it was play time and would not go back to sleep. This has inhibited us from traveling a lot. We can’t stay in a motel cause none of us would sleep, we can’t stay overnight at my parents cabin because no one gets any sleep. Frustrating.

Korben has started sleeping through the night most nights so as it is a 3 day weekend and we had no where to be in particular we decided it was perfect timing. So Friday we switched her bed to the basement with Korben. It was very cute at bedtime because she ran into her room and realized that her bed was missing. To encourage her and help her find it we started asking “Bed, Where are you?” There is nothing cuter than a 2.5 year old longingly say “Bed, Where are you?”. Nothing.

That first night was a little chaotic. Lela took advantage of the new room to explore a little bit, including tearing out all of Korbens clothes from his dresser, trying them on, realizing they don’t fit and then putting them on her bear. Placing her favorite bear “Kikkey” into her brothers crib and thus not getting it back. Giving herself a poopy diaper. Taking her brothers bottle. About two hours after we put them down she started screaming, so we went in to “save” them. After wronging all the rights, getting Korben another bottle and getting her back into bed with a little song, they both went straight to sleep! One night down.

Last night we put them both down together again at 7:00. Not a peep. Nothing, they went straight to sleep.

Tonight, so far so good. Lela played a little with Korben. We could hear them both laughing over the monitor. Eventually all the excess stimulation led to a crying fit from Korben. Instead of a quick save we gave them some time and thankfully not long after they both quieted down and are sound asleep. Hopefully it lasts.

Our new adventure is moving along quite nicely, wish us further luck!

Story time before bed. First night.

*please forgive the small photo, my sister broke my memory card so all I can take are small ones….sad.

My handsome husband turned 25 yesterday! I love him oh so much and he said it was a great birthday too!

I took him out to see Iron Man 2 on Saturday and we both loved it!!! No really, it was that good. Of course we both love Iron Man to begin with so that helped.

He spent about 3 hours total at FYE taking advantage of his 20% discount for his birthday.

Got the game that he’s been waiting for a couple of months now, Super Mario Galaxy 2. It’s fun.

Had his favorite dessert ever, Mini Moltens, which you can find here.

Watched the series finale of Lost, 6 years in the making and it’s finally done!

Happy birthday my love, I hope you have a great year!

Recently we had the opportunity to go to a cabin in Sundance to be with all my family for the weekend. Gratefully it was close to home so Matt could come and go for school while the kids and I could stay with family. My Grandfather came from CA, as did my aunt and uncle. It was a blast!!!! Seriously. Staying up till all hours of the night playing games, talking with family and just having a good time. My mother took advantage of the rare opportunity to take a picture of my whole family. Which she bought the copyright to so you all get to see them!
